Organization of baths and hammams is a profitable business. Commentary from Aleksey Baskakov in "Vechernyaya Moskva ”

4 May 2017

In "VM" live webcasting, experts discussed the market of public services of the capital. According to Aleksander Ivanov, Deputy Head of the Moscow Department of Trade and Services, since 2002 the number of enterprises providing bath services to the population became 2.4 times greater with the increase from 109 to 280. The actual sufficiency of bath facilities in Moscow is 0.2 workplaces per thousand inhabitants, according to the deputy head. The calculated index can be two and a half times higher. A business has something to think about: the organization of baths, saunas and hammams can be quite a cost-effective business.

- Bathhouses, which are offered by the city administration occasionally at auctions, are certainly attractive to investors. They are almost gone from the balance sheet of the capital. But the appearance of offers is advantageous as a combination of various services is provided in such premises i.e. sport, recreation and leisure which are in demand among the population. The purchase of such objects may be of interest to both network investors and private independent ones. However, we cannot rule out such a scenario as the re-profiling of objects. So after acquisition of a building, another enterprise may appear instead of bathhouses.
