This year, Russia intends to export unprecedented volume of 45 million tons of grain. American farmers are already complaining about the competition from Russian producers, and they are calculating losses.

“The economic model in the existing circumstances makes supplies abroad much more profitable than those in the national market. Due to the low ruble exchange rate against the dollar, profitability of production is increasing. The appreciation of the dollar against other currencies hit import of cereals from the United States. Russian farmers managed to take advantage of this situation to the full by increasing production to a greater extent. As a result, Russia was the world's main exporter of wheat in 2016.”
